The Femio Encounter

Fakir stared and blinked, dumbfounded.  It wasn't possible, was it?  There was no way for a human to sparkle.  It sounded like something one would find in a cheesy romance novel, but yet somehow the boy leaning on one knee holding out a rose was indeed sparkling.

I-it's got to be sunlight or something like that.  Fakir tried to bring logic into the bizarre sight before him.

However, what truly boggled his mind was the girl that sat across from him on the bench.  Fakir had to admit, he'd never imagined to see Ahiru in a scene like this, especially with a guy as...unique as this.  She looked uncomfortable, and kept glancing from side to side like a bunny trying to find the quickest escape route.

The boy wasn't doing anything indecent, he just seemed to be flirting and smiling at Ahiru.  For some reason, it made Fakir boil inside.  The boy flipped his hair and placed his hand on Ahiru's shoulder.  "Madamoiselle, will you not accompany me to the park tonight to gaze upon the beauty of the moonlight?"

"Um..well...Femio-san, I'm a bit busy tonight."

Femio?  Wait, Fakir heard that name before.  That's right, he was a well known flirt among the girls.  A self proclaimed prince.  He blinked.  Wait, don't tell me he's hitting on Ahiru?  He shook his head.  Calm down, Ahiru's a feather brain, but even she's not stupid enough to go out somewhere with this player.

"OH, I am wounded!"  Femio fell backwards as if an arrow had struck him down from above.  "Alas, my beauty curses me!  For no girl shall ever be with me because of it!"  He threw his hands up in the air.  "Oh please, bring punishment upon this sinner!"

"Good grief," Fakir muttered.  "What a drama queen."

Unfortunately, Ahiru seemed to be buying every word of it.  "I'm really sorry, Femio-san!  I don't mean to hurt your feelings, I-I would go out with you if I could-"

Femio sprang and grabbed Ahiru by her hands  "Then, ma cherie, we shall have a date tonight and I shall bestow my gracious love upon you!"

Ahiru was tongue tied.  "W-well, no, but I-"

Fakir twitched.  Okay, no more bystander mode.  Fakir marched over and yanked Ahiru free out of Femio's clutches.  "Are you deaf, she says she has plans tonight!"

"F-Fakir?" Ahiru stammered surprised.

Femio raised an eyebrow and folded his arms over his chest.  "Excuse me, but I was not talking to you, ruffian."  He shook his head and flipped his hair again.  "This doesn't involve you."

Fakir glared.  Great, he was one of those.  He sighed.   There was one way to scare this kind of guy off...  "It does since Ahiru has plans with me tonight, or are you trying to take my woman."

Ahiru gaped and blushed a deep red.  "W-what, Fakir what are you-"  He clamped his hand over Ahiru's mouth.  She squirmed wildly, but was unable to break free.

"Ahiru and I have a date tonight," Fakir stated firmly.  "We're practically joined at the hip."   His eyes narrowed.  "Catch my drift, pal?"

Femio frowned at the pair, but then sighed and took a bow.  "I am many things, but I am not a women stealer."  He leaned towards Ahiru's face.  "However, my dear, if you find you would prefer my beautiful company instead of this brute I am always available."  He winked and then turned and left.

Once he was clearly out of ear shot, Fakir lifted his hand off of Ahiru allowing her to gasp for air.  "You jerk!"  Ahiru yelled.  "What was that for?!"

Fakir shrugged and leaned over the bench.  "What, you're saying you wanted to spend the evening with that weirdo?"

Ahiru pouted.  "No, b-but I was handling it."

"Yeah, right," Fakir muttered.   "You TOTALLY had it under control when you were about to go out with him."

Ahiru sighed.  "It's not like it's not the first time it's happened anyway."

Fakir jerked and stared slowly at her.  "Wait, you mean he's hit on you before?"

Ahiru blushed.  "Y-yeah, a few times, but I haven't seen him for a while, I thought that he gave up."

He didn't like it, Fakir couldn't clearly state why, but the image of that sparkle freak putting an arm around Ahiru filled him with rage.  Fakir frowned and leaned close to Ahiru's face.  "Then, just tell him you're going out with me."

Ahiru blinked.  "But wouldn't that be lying?"

Fakir grumbled.  Why did Ahiru have to be so honest?  "It's not a lie if we actually do right?"  He blushed.  "I-I mean if I have you help me in the library reading, then as far as that moron is concerned we're on a date, right?  It's not a total lie."

Ahiru tilted her head and grasped her chin in thought.  "No, I guess not."

He yanked her by her hand and pulled her off the bench.  "Then, you're coming with me and if that loser still hits on you, you just come and see me."  I have a sword I need to sharpen anyway.  He looked back.  "That alright?"

Ahiru blushed.  "O-okay, but do you mind if we stop by the pond first?  I promised the ducks I would feed them some bread."

"Yeah, sure," Fakir replied, attempting to ignore the relief he felt inside.
This is a drabble I wrote for Asatira for her birthday. I hope she likes it! ^_^

Summary: Fakir sees Femio hitting on Ahiru, and he doesn't like it one bit.
